Felicia Pearce - Placement Profile

Course: BA (Hons) Fashion Management
Placement: WGSN
Placement position: Style, Media and Beauty Assistant
Could you tell me about your work placement?
My placement at WGSN as an intern journalist has been one of the best years of my life and I've been a part of things I will never forget. I loved the Journalism elective on my course, and decided to find a placement that would allow me to utilise and build on my writing skills. I have been working on the online magazine for the WGSN site, adding news stories, celebrity style features and ad campaign trend write-ups. My supervisors have been so accommodating and have let me have as much responsibility as I felt comfortable with.
What was the highlight of your placement year?
A highlight has got to be going to some fashion shows and parties during London fashion week! I couldn't believe my luck, serious celeb-spotting!
Has your placement experience helped you make a decision regarding your future career?
Absolutely. I knew before I came to WGSN that I wanted to be a journalist, and my time with them has only cemented that. I'm so happy I have some great experience to add to my CV.
Would you recommend NTU and your course?
I would definitely recommend my course to other people – especially if you're not quite sure what area of fashion you want to work in. The course has both creative and technical modules that will allow you to pinpoint your strengths and work out what it is you want to do.
