Could you tell me about your work placement?
My work placement to date has been a fantastic experience, one that is priceless! I am working as a buyers clerk for the men’s cottons department. I can safely say that I learn something new everyday! As for what I get involved in, where do I start? My role comprises from working through daily sales figures, placing orders on the system, attending fit sessions to seeing an initial design on spec develop into a production sample ready to go into stores. Dealing with suppliers on a daily basis, liaising with the merchandising team, managing the critical path.
Has your placement experience helped you make a decision regarding your future career?
As of yet, I have not completely decided that buying is what I want to focus my career on however, the experience I am gaining is invaluable and I am certain that by the end of the 12 months I will have a good idea of which direction to steer my career in.
Would you recommend NTU and your course?
I would most definitely recommend NTU as a University and I would strongly recommend this course for someone who knows they would like a fashion directed career.
