How to apply

Choose your course

Find the course which appeals to you the most and decide which dates you'd like to attend. You can select a first and second choice option in case a course is already full or if your application is not immediately successful.

Application deadlines

  • To start studying in October you need to submit your application by 31 May.
  • To start studying in January or February you'll need to submit your application by 31 October.

We'll consider applications submitted after these dates, however places are limited. Once you've submitted your application we'll send you the result within 15 days.

Fees

Fees for our 2012 / 2013 academic year are:

  • £3,775 per 10-week term
  • £5,650 per 15-week semester.

Requirements

Please check your eligibility with your home college / university and discuss the process for tuition fees. You'll need:

  • a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent if English is not your first language.

Evidence of your current work

You'll need to submit different work depending on the course you're applying for. Information on what to submit for each course can be found in Study Abroad course options and dates. PDF icon

If you're required to submit a portfolio, it should include 12 to 15 images of your current work and work in progress, with descriptions, on a CD or emailed as a zip file.

All courses require for a short essay to be submitted. This should be 500 words long and explain why you wish to study abroad.

For our BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering and BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering courses you will need to include evidence of your current or most recent mathematics studies.

Supporting documents 

For all courses, you'll need to include a letter of support from your home college or university. This must include the contact details of your Study Abroad or Academic Adviser at home.

You will also need to include:

  • a photocopy of your most recent transcript
  • English language test results (if English is not your first language)
  • a photocopy of the photograph page and inside front page of your passport, should you require a visa to enter the UK.

Please do not send any original documents.

Accepting your offer

If your application is successful we will send you a formal letter, and include information on:

  • how to enrol and pay your tuition fees
  • visas
  • accommodation
  • Student Services
  • living in Nottingham
  • any preparatory work you need to complete
  • materials you may need to bring with you
  • details of any course excursions.

Payment of tuition fees

All fees must be paid in advance. Your place is not guaranteed until your fees are paid in full. Deposits are not accepted for study abroad.

Cancellation

If you need to cancel your place on Study Abroad, you must send your request to us in writing. If your request arrives four weeks before the course start date you will be entitled to a fee refund, less a £30 administration charge. If your request arrives less then four weeks before the course start date, you will receive a refund of 50% of the fees paid.

If you miss classes due to illness and personal commitments we will not offer any form of refund or additional classes.
