Who we work with
The School of Art and Design is committed to maintaining and developing relationships with a variety of communities that work in partnership with us. We recognise the significance of community-university engagement and foster an outward looking, inclusive approach to working with others. The School has a long tradition of cultural provision including exhibitions and public lectures offered to our local and regional communities.
Working with local schools and Aim Higher, we endeavour to make higher education more inclusive and available to those who otherwise might not see university as an option for them. This includes our innovative schools drama work with Dragon Breath Theatre and our wide range of Summer School activities.
We are progressive in supporting our professional communities through initiatives like the Nottingham Creative Network and working with regional arts collectives and projects to build a sustainable and professional infrastructure in the city and region.
The School also has skills and expertise which is frequently shared with the cultural industries and businesses. We can provide brainstorming and collaborative workshops to help take new research into the business community, both in terms of custom, practice and product. One of our key aims with these relationships is to build strong and lasting links, with the common objective of relating our research and practice in new innovative ways.
