International students

We actively encourage the development of an international community, believing that cultural diversity will enhance all students' educational experience. The School prides itself on the particular care and support that is provided for international students; liaison staff, course tutors and trained counsellors are available to help where needed. In the week prior to undergraduate enrolment, new international students are offered a detailed orientation programme.

How to apply for our courses

Students applying for our undergraduate courses from outside the UK will be required to apply through UCAS but should contact the School directly for a pre-application form and advice in the first instance.

Postgraduate applicants, please see detailed information on our postgraduate portfolio and application advice webpage.

English language requirements

Applicants will be required to show that they have an adequate knowledge of written and spoken English. Find out more on our English requirements webpage. Overseas applicants who reside outside of the UK are normally selected through an online submission of practical work along with a short piece of writing.

Speak to us before you apply

Representatives of the School regularly attend international education fairs to advise and inform potential overseas applicants. For further information about the NTU School of Art & Design and studying in the UK, applicants can contact their local Education Counselling Office (the ECO of the British Council) or an international representative. A comprehensive list of worldwide representatives, news, events and information is available on the University's International website.

Helping you to prepare for studying in the UK

Take a look at the Prepare for Success website, an independent online toolkit, designed to introduce you to aspects of university study in the UK which might be new or different for you.

Prepare for Success is an interactive web tool for international students who are getting ready to come to the UK for study in further or higher education. It contains learning resources which are activity-based to help you find out about different aspects of academic life in the UK and the skills needed for effective study.

Helping you to settle in

Please see arrival help for details of help available once you arrive at the School of Art & Design.

Also, you can get involved with the International Students Network, which is the largest in the UK, has members from all over the world and organises events in Nottingham as well as around the UK.

We look forward to welcoming you into our international community.
