Skills development
Skills development programme for careers in art and design
This programme of classes is for students whose first language is not English. The School of Art and Design believes that you will achieve greater success in your studies if you have good communication and study skills. Therefore, the programme provides you with the opportunity to develop the skills you need both for your study in the UK and your future career.
You are expected to attend the language development class for your course. This class will help you to develop your vocabulary, and skills in speaking (presentations and seminars). It will also help you to enhance your writing, listening and reading comprehension skills with the use of texts and topics from your area of study.
If you are worried about your pronunciation or writing, you can also attend classes which focus on these skills. There is also a dissertation class on Fridays for final-year undergraduate students. All of these classes are taught by language teachers.
You can also attend classes in evaluation, communication and culture, which are taught by an art and design tutor and focus more on subject than language.
There is more information available for current NTU students about these classes and there's a timetable on the NOW website.
