You will have the confidence to work with others, learn from your peers and give supportive feedback. You must be open to people of all cultural and social backgrounds as Nottingham is a lively city with a diverse population.

History and heritage lecture programme

From DH Lawrence and lace to medieval castles and caves, Nottingham has a wealth of cultural, social and political history to explore. To celebrate this you will attend two evening lectures per week about Nottingham and its local legends. These lectures will be interactive and most will take place off-site to aid your orientation to this lively city. There will be visits to museums and galleries of local and national importance, and an exploration of architectural developments that have changed the city's skyline.

Saturdays in Nottingham and London

During the two Saturdays the academic activities will further broaden your experience of Nottingham and the UK. One Saturday will be dedicated to an exploration of Nottingham as a global city, where you will compare and contrast the visual identity with your life back home. Another Saturday will be a day trip to London to see exciting architecture, from the redevelopment of Stratford as an Olympic venue to the Thames where old and new collide.

Social events

Nottingham has a very rich and varied social scene – that is why it has always been so popular with students. Organised events one evening per week included in your fee will ensure you experience the culture and entertainment of Nottingham. There will also be a welcome event for you to meet other students and key staff, and a farewell event to share fond memories of Nottingham and update your address book.
