Exhibition: Songs of Innocence and of Experience
Details:
Exhibiting artist Ben Judd uses performance and video to explore notions of scepticism and belief, freedom and immersion. He positions himself and the audience as both participant and observer.
Previous work has explored Ben’s relationship to particular occult and esoteric beliefs such as witchcraft, shamanism and spiritualism. As a sceptic he attempts to test the extent and nature of his own beliefs and preconceptions.
Recent performance work explores how these ritualistic activities can be extended into an action realised by actors (one that itself hovers on the border between immersion and a more self-conscious, knowing state), and how, in turn, this action can be interpreted in a moving image work.
This exhibition is open to the general public and admission is free.
