Competition winners with Sir Paul SmithJoint Winners: Rachel Turner & Elizabeth Insch
Course: BA (Hons) Graphic Design
Prize: Travel to London to meet Sir Paul, with a guided tour of the design studios and shop. Summer internship and a £250 voucher for Paul Smith stores.
One of the world’s most famous designers, Nottingham’s own Sir Paul Smith, develops a brief each year exclusively for NTU students. Our BA (Hons) Graphic Design students were set the task of designing a packing concept for a new luxury men’s and women’s fragrance. Moving away from the traditional Paul Smith stripes, the design had to successfully capture the unique essence of the brand. Working in a team, Rachel Turner and Elizabeth Insch were awarded first prize for their memorable design.Feedback from Paul Smith and the judging team on NTU’s entries included: “They showed an enterprising spirit, with a good balance between drawing and computer work and actual practical models. They had shown an understanding of the spirit of Paul Smith, the use of the unexpected, the use of colour and of mixing materials.”
