Helen Boulton is Reader in Technology Enhanced Learning and Teaching, and Learning and Teaching Coordinator in the School of Education.
She is Programme Leader for the Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education. Her research interests include blended learning,
and the application of new technologies to learning and teaching. She is co-author of Learning and Teaching with Virtual Learning Environments (Learning Matters, 2007) and Learning and Teaching in Secondary Schools to be published in October 2010 by Pearson Publishing.
Helen's current research focusses on using Web 2.0 technologies to develop communities of practice with papers presented at
various national and international conferences. She is also leading a project, funded by the Training and Development Agency
into the use of eportfolios by trainee teachers and newly qualified teachers. Helen has also researched into the transition
into HE relating specifically to assessment and feedback with colleagues from Sheffield Hallam University and presented findings
at ECER, Vienna, 2009. Helen is currently NTU lead in the independent evaluation of the VITAL ICT Continuing Professional
Development project. Helen coordinates an ESCalate Special Interest Group in Assessment and Feedback which was launched at
Sheffield Hallam in June 2009 and is a member of the Information Technology in Teacher Education
