Supporting placements – the wikimap project Chris Reynolds and Phil Pierce, School of Arts and Humanities The Wikimap is a student support tool, initially developed in Modern Languages, which prepares students to make informed decisions

Sustainable communities - Developing final year students web-based skills as a form of assessment, preparing for transition
into practice James Hunter and Ann McCarthy, School of Social Sciences Public service organisations are increasingly communicating with policy stakeholders via the medium of online platforms. Living
Places offers final year students the opportunity to demonstrate in their final assessment their ability to develop policy-orientated
web pages aimed at local citizens or policy stakeholder organisations. Given the emphasis upon understanding localities as
real places, the medium of web pages enables students to visibly capture and communicate the key sustainability issues impacting
on their community. View PowerPoint presentation
Transition into placement: Collaborative wikis and the effectiveness of uploading audio feedback Rachael Smith, School of Education When student’s go onto work placements, they often forget some of the things they have learnt in university. I tried to combat
this problem for my PGCE ICT students by setting up a wiki and trailing the effectiveness of uploading audio feedback on an
APP assessment task that they could then refer back to later on placement. View PowerPoint presentation
