Section 11: Admissions to Taught Courses of Study
An applicant may be admitted on the basis of evidence to suggest that he/she will be able to fulfil and benefit from the objectives
of the course and achieve the standard required for the award.
- The University has an admissions policy, which is supported by guidance on the operation of the policy.

- The University encourages applicants from non-traditional backgrounds and a variety of forms of preparation can provide evidence
of an applicant's potential to succeed.
- Each course must have explicit admission requirements upon which judgements are made.
- The University has minimum educational requirements for each of its awards.
- Course publicity should be accurate and provide information that will enable applicants to make informed decisions about their
options.
- There are specific requirements for applicants whose first language is not English.
- The University is required, through the Race Equality Policy, to monitor applications and enrolment by racial group, ethnicity
and nationality and devise action plans to address apparent discrepancies in recruitment.
- There is a policy on the consideration of applicants with criminal records, together with one for the verification of entry
qualifications.
- A student may be admitted to an individually negotiated (CATS) course.
- An 'Associate' student may be admitted to study a module(s) without being formally admitted to a course, normally for CPD
or 'taster' purposes.
- In collaborative arrangements, the admission of students may be the responsibility of a partner institution.
- The University has maximum periods of study in which a student should normally complete their studies.
