Section 16: Common Assessment Regulations

Note: Revised first degree common assessment regulations come into effect for the 2012-2013 session.  Referrals arising from the 2011-2012 session will be considered under the current common assessment regulations.

  • The University has common assessment regulations for the following:
    • Honours Degrees
    • Foundation Degrees
    • Taught Postgraduates.
  • Course teams must adopt the relevant common assessment regulations for all courses offered by NTU.
  • It is permissible to have special applications of aspects of the common assessment regulations, but these must be approved by ASQC.
  • Non-Degree courses need to devise their own regulations based upon a set of assessment principles set out in Section 16D of the ASQ Handbook. The specific assessment regulations for non-degree courses are not provided on this webpage, but are instead available from the School - please see the appropriate course listing on the main NTU webpages for contact details.
  • Where a course attracts PSRB recognition / accreditation, the course team should consult the separate guidelines entitled Coping with Constraints Imposed by PSRBs - available on the CASQ website, under Implementing Policy.
  • The complete regulations and principles can be found in Section 16 of the ASQ Handbook.
