Section 18: Attendance Policy

  • The majority of academic courses provided by the University include activities which depend on student participation and collaboration.
  • It is expected that all students will attend all scheduled activities unless there is a valid reason for them not to.
  • Students must be aware that attendance promotes their learning.
  • Students must familiarise themselves with, and comply with, the particular attendance requirements of their course, and, where relevant, with those of placement providers.
  • Academic staff have an obligation to give students notification of timetabling and timetabling changes.
  • Attendance and absence should be regularly monitored.
  • Monitoring of attendance policy should be part of routine course management. Any action points should be reported in the course and school annual reports.
  • Full details can be found in Section 18 of the ASQ Handbook.
