SPUR Project
2011 winner (1 of 20)
Supervisors: Dr Christine Hardy (Art and Design), Mr Andrew Plant (Architecture, Design and the Built Environment)
Student: Natalie Ferguson
The NTU Strategic Plan 2010-2015 cites global citizenship as one graduate attribute: international awareness and openness
to the world, based on appreciation of social and cultural diversity, respect for human rights and dignity. Internationalisation
of the curriculum is one of the strands for achieving this. The project explored student expectations and experience of curriculum
internationalisation and intercultural competencies, from the student perspective. Student tasks included a literature review
and data collection and analysis to discern the extent of internationalisation in programmes within art and design. A case
study of the project will be devised and placed onto the NOW Staff Room for staff to use in their teaching of research methods.
