Information processing in visual perception Supervisors: Dr Duncan Guest (Social Sciences) and Dr Christina Howard (Social Sciences)
The way in which visual information is processed in order to create a picture of the world we experience is a major research
focus within cognitive psychology. Visual information processing is influenced by a range of factors which are typically studied
independently. The research project aims to study visual information processing from a systems perspective using computer-based
behavioural experiments to examine the influences of each component of the system. Student tasks will include a literature
review, contribution to research design, organising and running lab-based experiments, data management and analysis, report
writing and dissemination activities.
