SPUR Project
2008 Winner (3 of 15)
Digital Textile Futures: Integration of New Technologies Supervisors: Dr Amanda Briggs-Goode, Dr Nigel Marshall, Tina Downes (Applied Design, Art and Design)
The project explored the 3 technologies or the Miramaki 2 Textile Digital Printing, the Barudan Multi-Head Embroidery machine
and the Dracup Samplemaster Jacquard Loom. The two students on the project gained a working knowledge of the software and
production processes to enable some initial comparisons and contrast of the technologies to be made by analysing how designs
are interpreted through the technology, how processes affect the designs and by analysing the visual effects of these parameters.
