SPUR Project
2008 Winner (12 of 15)
Research Assistance for MEDUSSA Online Case Study System Supervisors: Adrian Castell, Christopher Cramphorn (NBS - Information Management and Systems)
The project involved the student developing and testing a new phase of the MEDUSSA system. The MEDUSSA system is a flexible
and interactive online case-study based learning tool. MEDUSSA utilises streamed video clips of key incidents combined with
common business objects (e.g. memos, business mapping documents) to give learners a better understanding of complex organisational
situations, and to help engage and immerse students in a rich learning environment. The project has been undergoing low level
development for some years, and there is now a functioning prototype. The role of the student was to enable the team to turn
the prototype into a robust system that could be used and evaluated in live teaching environments. One of the focuses of the
student involvement was the redevelopment at a technical level of the underlying (non-linear) content management system /database.
