Chemical Analysis of Ballistic Material

The student had the opportunity to carry out research within an analytical chemistry laboratory and utilise a range of instrumentation and sample preparation techniques in order to explore and characterise certain ballistic materials. The aim of the project was to produce a more detailed chemical profile which might prevent any misinterpretation relating to the evaluation of these residue types. Methods such as gas chromatography was used, together with detailed mass spectrometry analysis and detection.
