Information for mentees
Becoming involved in the employability mentoring programme means you have access to a community of sector specific insiders. You give yourself the opportunity to learn from the experience and knowledge of the working world which they have acquired in a way which is safe, secure and specific.

Your mentor will support you in developing your employability prospects. You will develop skills needed to secure placements and jobs when your time comes. You will learn how to communicate with professionals verbally, in writing and face to face.

If you complete the steps in this programme you will begin:

  • to build your own personal professional contacts,
  • start to show people in the sector who you are and what you can do.

It has never been more important in the world of work to be able to demonstrate what you can do, just having the potential is not enough. This programme will give you a real life experience to discuss at interviews of where you saw an opportunity and used it as a resource to aid your personal and professional development.

You will be able to share your experience of moving from having the capability to taking action, demonstrating and building your abilities through a step by step process which required commitment, teamwork, building relationships, self-assessment, goal setting, action planning, reviewing, evaluating and using the information at each step to inform the next.
