Learning about prospective employers is a key element of the job-seeking process. Employers tell us that many applicants are unaware of the nature of the business or the organisation to which they are applying.
Before making any application or attending an interview, please ensure that you have researched the organisation and have an awareness of the following:
- Main products/services
- Location - i.e. is the company international, national or local?
- Competitors
- Number of employees
- Recent press releases or news items pertaining to the company
- Established training schemes (if there are any) or graduates employed in the past
- Key developments in the business sector to which the employer's company belongs (for example, have there been any developments in retail, oil, paper or website design?)
