New CELS activities, funded by the East Midlands Excellence Hub

Funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the East Midlands Excellence Hub aims to provide a programme of enrichment opportunities for Gifted and Talented young people across the region. The Hub, which is led by the University of Nottingham with the Universities of Leicester and Loughborough as key partners, is working with other Higher Education Institutions, such as Nottingham Trent University (NTU), to contribute to this programme.

The Centre for Effective Learning in Science, at NTU, is providing a series of activities designed for Gifted and Talented pupils from Key Stage 2 through to post 16 students. The sessions on offer cover topics such as DNA, sports science, forensics, chemical reaction rates, drug synthesis, ballistics and mini beasts.

Events already underway include the Animal Extravaganza!, Chemistry Reaction Rates master class and the Primary Gifted and Talented Science Session.

For information about these and future events, please contact Georgina Westbrook on +44 (0)115 848 8065 or via email.
