Calling all budding journalists
The East Midlands STEM Partnership is sourcing budding journalists to report on STEM activities within the region. This is
a great opportunity for students with interests in journalism, media, science, technology, engineering or maths subjects.
To get involved, students must attend a briefing session on 8 October 2008, at BioCity in Nottingham; they can then participate
until November 2008.
Students will have the opportunity to:
- produce short media items, including blogs, podcasts, articles, videos etc, to record the engagement of the school with particular
initiatives
- see their report appear in local papers and other media, with a view to their material adding to STEM coverage.
Students can report on:
- why they are excited about STEM subjects and initiatives
- any personal involvement in a STEM Partnership initiative, such as Ignition*, Space Academy, Lab-in-a-Lorry, etc
- STEM events they have attended
- any spin-offs from STEM partnership activities at their educational establishment
- local business involvement in school/college STEM activities
- interviews with scientists.
At the end of the project, all participating students will be put forward for the STEM Reporter Awards. The Awards will recognise
individuals or teams who have provided the most effective contributions in each county, a great addition to anyone’s CV.
We are currently searching for KS3, KS4, post 16 and Undergraduate students.
For more information visit the STEM partnership website or download the project flyer.
