Computing and Technology Student Ambassador Scheme
Academic secondee: Joanna Hartley
It is widely acknowledged that student retention in science and engineering is a major problem. At NTU, the Computing and
Technology academic teams have put into place a number of proactive initiatives in attempts to combat this issue.
This secondment project involved the development of a 'Student Ambassador Scheme', in which high-achieving second and final
year students were recruited to mentor new students.
The Student Ambassador Scheme was launched in the 2007-2008 academic year. Lessons have been learned from the initial programme,
which have been used to improve the scheme in recent years.
