What are your main duties of work? I work in Epping Forest, teaching ecology to school groups. The pupils I teach are between the ages of 4 and 18 years old.
The activities range from pond dipping and mini beast hunting, to A-level investigations for use in coursework. All residential
and day courses are based on the National Curriculum.

What are your favourite aspects of the job? I meet new people everyday and I enjoy teaching different age groups. Each day is challenging and different to the next.

What salary can a graduate expect to earn in this job? A Centre Assistant will start on the minimum wage. If you have a teaching qualification, you can work as a tutor and earn
up to £14,000 per year (accommodation included).
|
Other information: This job provides opportunities to work in centres across the UK and also to travel further afield. Since working here I have
been to Taiwan to run outdoor education workshops.
This job is very rewarding but the money is quite poor, so to do it you really have to love the work and enjoy spending time
with children.
