Chemistry Week 2007

Synthesis and Spectroscopy master class
This session looked at the synthesis and analysis of household medicines. The event included a lecture using interactive voting handsets.

The elements of fire
A demonstration lecture that revealed the chemistry behind flashes, pops, whistles and bangs given by Mark Crowley of CELS, followed by a firework display.
Organised in association with NTU's ChemSoc.

Fuelling the Future
The ‘Fuelling the Future’ National Tour was a 9 day tour. Its theme was based on the use of alternative fuels for the transport industry and the role chemistry will have on reducing carbon emissions in this industry.

Know Chemistry
This event included workshops, hands-on experiments, exciting demonstrations and an interactive careers session.

Snap, crackle and snot!
These half-day sessions got students involved in hands-on science activities looking at topics such as the properties of liquid nitrogen, the chemistry of solids and making slime.
The activities were followed by an amazing demonstration lecture given by Mark Crowley of CELS.
