Science festivals

National Science and Engineering Week - 2008, 2007, 2006
National Science and Engineering Week celebrations at CELS have include master classes, workshops and demonstration lectures for primary schools through to post-16 students. Titles of activities include, Minibeasts, Vampire Bacteria, Ballistics and Projectiles, Exploding Science and Synthesis and Spectroscopy.

Chemistry Week - 2007, 2006
Chemistry Week activities at CELS also consists of master classes, workshops and demonstration lectures for primary schools through to post-16 students. Chemistry Week titles include Elements of Fire, Fuelling the Future, Know Chemistry, Snap, Crackle and Snot and Colour, Goo and You.

Salters' Festival of Chemistry - 2008, 2007, 2006
Funded by the Salters' Institute, this Festival of Chemistry offers pupils from across the region the opportunity to take part in challenges, games and quizzes, with the chance of winning cash prizes. Students take in the Salters' Challenge during the first part of the event, which is followed by the University Challenge in the afternoon. During this time teachers are free to attend some CPD sessions.

Nanotechnology Roadshow - 2007, 2008
NanoExpo in 2007 and NanoWhat? in 2008 demonstrated how nonotechnology is used in everyday life and how it may be used in the future. These events included exhibitions and also the chance to win an iPod Nano, meet the NanoMan, drive the nano car, catch the molecule and play nano computer games.
