Subject Knowledge Update: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS)
Details:
This session will be delivered in association with the Royal Geographical Society. It’s a Subject Knowledge Update on Brazil, Russia, India and China by Dr Simon Oates. This session, delivered by a RGS speaker, will cover the changing importance of the BRICs countries and assist the teaching of globalisation and development at Key Stage Four and Key Stage Five.
This BRICS Subject Knowledge Update will:
- Provide up to date and new case study material and information.
- Give an overview of the key facts and information about the BRICS group that should be highlighted when teaching a range of topics (from energy to water).
- Help teachers who have not taught geography for a while, or have recently changed courses, to teach it effectively and confidently in an up-to-date way.
- Provide some resources and case studies for you to take away for use at Key Stage Four and Key Stage Five.
- Encourage enthusiasm to teach about the BRICS and give an abundance of ideas of how to link it with most other geography topics and themes.
