Media Taster Day
Media Taster Day
Clifton campus – April 2009
This was a two day event for Year 10 students who are thinking about studying media. The students worked with our Student Ambassadors at our Clifton campus and had to the chance to try out and learn more about media production and the courses you can take to get into the media industry.
Working in small groups the students experienced scriptwriting and storyboarding. Then the groups used cameras and editing equipment to produce a three minute film about what they had learned and, at the end of the second day, each group screened their film to an eager audience. Each school also received a DVD copy of their film to share after the event.
Student Ambassador Naadiya Subedar said of the event:
“The group I worked with had some amazing ideas, and I was so happy for them when their film worked out exactly as they wanted it to. One of the boys did the Thriller dance on his pretend graduation!
“Again this was an intense two days, but we all worked so hard to make sure the pupils got the most out of it. At the end they all had an informative yet funny film to take back to school with them to show off to the rest of the school.”
