The NTU Work Inspiration Scheme

100% of colleagues in schools reported seeing an increase to their student’s confidence and motivation when returning from our placements.

Now in our fifth year, the NTU Work Inspiration Scheme offers students high quality, meaningful placements with clear learning outcomes, through practical work based activities and the opportunity to see ‘behind the scenes’ at our institution. Alongside this our aim is to engage students and raise their aspirations for HE and beyond.

We are pleased to announce that for 2012 / 13 there will be 30 placement areas available, with the capacity to offer placements to around 100 students.

We want to be able to provide these students with on-going support for their educational journey and future careers, that doesn’t just end after their week on placement with us. As part of the scheme we invite all students and their parents / carers to the annual NTU Work Inspiration Scheme celebration event at the end of the year and highlight the ways we can continue to support them through our HE aspiration raising events in their future years.

We also encourage students to focus on the skills they will build while they are on placement with us - with each student receiving a Skills Development Profile for completion before, during and after their placement. We feel this will is a great way to get students thinking about and recording their transferrable skills and can act as a great point of reference for the future.

Our placements are offered free of charge
The way we run our NTU Work Inspiration Scheme means that students can receive a fully supported work experience placement free of charge. We use our internal health and safety team to ensure all placements are risk assessed, removing the need for schools to use external companies.

How to apply
We welcome applications from students with a keen interest in the area in which they are applying. If they would like further information on a placement, or to request an application pack, please email our Work Experience Coordinator.
