Anna Armstrong
Technology Learning and Development Adviser
Responsibilities: Anna provides a range of professional development activities and learning resources to support colleagues in their use of use digital technologies to enhance learning and teaching at NTU.
Anna’s interests lie in the potential for digital technologies to make learning more effective, engaging and accessible to everyone, and in demystifying technology through improving digital literacies.
Anna is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology.
Previous experience: Anna held a variety of technology-related roles at NTU before she took a break to teach English as a foreign language in Japan. She returned to NTU in 2007 to take up a role as Learning Technology Trainer.

Lindsay Davies
Learning and Development Manager Academic Practice (Researcher Continuing Professional Development)
Responsibilities: Lindsay is responsible for the management of activities and events to support the career development and transferable skills of research staff and postgraduate research students at NTU. She is responsible for liaising with regional and national bodies to implement initiatives for researcher development.
Previous experience: Lindsay has wide experience of working within higher education including lecturing posts in adult and continuing education, and initial teacher education (ITE) for the post-compulsory sector. Prior to working at NTU, Lindsay was an educational researcher and pedagogic projects manager at the University of Nottingham Centre for Integrative Learning. Her research interests include teaching and learning theories and the use of non-empirical methodologies in education.

Susanna Dermody
Learning and Development Adviser
Responsibilities: Susanna contributes to and supports the management and professional development programmes. She also supports the Equality and Diversity team in their activities and delivery of associated development programmes.
Previous Experience: Prior to joining NTU Susanna worked in learning and development roles across a wide range of public and private sector organisations including Boots, Nottinghamshire Police, Alliance and Leicester and East Midlands Development Agency. She has managed Learning and Development teams and specific areas of expertise include leadership and management development, organisational development, NVQ’s, Investors in People and Equality and Diversity.

Rachel Evans
Assessor
Responsibilities: Rachel assesses and quality assures vocational qualifications in a variety of areas including:
- customer service
- business skills
- IT
- Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance.
Rachel is also responsible for training and delivery on the Level 3 First Line Management programme and is a customer service specialist. Rachel consults with external organisations relating to vocational provision and regularly speaks at external conferences and events.
Previous experience: After graduating, Rachel worked in Yorkshire for the Employment Service in various Job Centres, as front-line staff then claims manager. Rachel also spent time with the Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce as an NVQ Assessor, working mainly with 16 to 19-year-old apprentices and developing links with businesses around Nottingham.

Salome Graham
Learning and Development Administrator
Responsibilities: Salome manages the administration for the Centre for Professional Learning and Development staff team.
Previous experience: Salome previously worked in the voluntary sector at the Nottinghamshire Black Partnership and the Partnership Council, as Administrative Assistant, Administrator and Office Manager.

Mary Hind
Skills Development Manager
Responsibilities: Mary leads the Skills Development Team to deliver programmes in IT, NVQs and management and personal skills.
Previous experience: Prior to joining NTU, Mary worked in learning and development in a variety of public sector organisations including Local Government and the Nottinghamshire Police. Work has included designing and delivering nationally accredited qualifications and internal development programmes to all levels of staff and management.

Elena Khabarova
Technology Learning and Development Adviser
Responsibilities: As part of the CPLD technology team, Elena is responsible for design and implementation of development initiatives and learning resources to support NTU staff in their use of university systems with a focus on Banner and Microsoft Office.
Previous experience: Prior to joining NTU, Elena worked in the British Council supporting bidding for and implementation of international development and scholarship management projects and programmes. She has over 5 years of experience as a Learning and Development consultant, specialising in SAP, business process analysis and managing personal and professional development schemes.

Karen Lichfield
Learning and Development Officer
Responsibilities: Karen is responsible for delivering HR learning and development, which covers:
- recruitment and selection
- the Performance, Development and Contribution Review (PDCR)
- discipline and grievance
- modules of the Management Development Programme.
Previous experience: Karen has an extensive public sector career managing and delivering a range of learning and development programmes in the unemployment sector and Local Government (Education and Housing) before joining NTU. She has also managed a HR team and developed expertise in Investors in People and organisational development.

Ann Meredith
Head of Professional Learning and Development
Responsibilities: Ann is responsible for leading and managing the Centre for Professional Learning and Development. She also leads learning and development strategic initiatives; contributing to professional development activities.
Previous experience: Ann has undertaken a variety of roles in higher education in learning support, as a lecturer in Human Resource Management and in staff and educational development. Her experience of working in higher education includes roles at the Open University, Edge Hill University and at the University of Oxford, as well as contributing to development programmes run by Universities UK. Ann worked for the NHS as a regional learning manager prior to joining Nottingham Trent University in 2005.

Suzanne Pears
Technology Learning and Development Adviser
Responsibilities: Sue provides training and support materials to NTU staff using the Banner student information system and Microsoft Office products.
Previous experience: Prior to joining NTU in May 2012, Sue spent over 20 years working as an Information Scientist for a variety of multinational companies. During this time she delivered information services to research staff and provided end-user support and training for a variety of library and information resources.

Rebecca Peat
Learning and Development Adviser
Responsibilities: Rebecca is responsible for delivering and supporting programmes in leadership, management and personal skills, as well bespoke development initiatives.
Previous experience: Rebecca managed and trained teachers and supervisors in Japan for six years. She then recruited teachers in London to work in Japan. Rebecca also has experience working and managing in other customer-facing environments, for example: Customer Co-ordinator at Coca Cola Enterprises and Account Manager at an HR Software Solutions Company.

Gemma Stafford-Keal
Administrator
Responsibilities: Gemma is responsible for the administrative support of the Centre for Professional Learning and Development and related activities.
Previous experience: Gemma has worked in a variety of administration roles at Nottingham Trent University. Her career began in the Faculty of Humanities, which is now part of the College of Arts, Humanities and Education. Having worked for Registry and as part of the ISIS Project Team, Gemma has been with the Centre for Professional Learning and Development since 2004.

Alison Stewart
Learning and Development Manager for Academic Practice (Learning and Teaching)
Responsibilities: Alison joined CPLD in 2008 as Learning and Development Manager for Academic Practice (Learning and Teaching), and her role is to work closely with Colleges, Schools and professional services such as CADQ, LLR and Student Support Services to develop, coordinate and help deliver continuing professional development support for colleagues who teach and support learning in HE.
Previous experience: Alison has had a number of roles in teaching and learning. These included consultancy work for the:
- Open University
- Institute of Health Management
- NHS University.
Prior to that, Alison spent 15 years at NTU as a senior lecturer, designing and delivering a range of public services management and leadership professional, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In the 1980's she worked as an NHS manager, where her worked included operation management as well as and mentoring and tutoring trainee health managers.
At NTU, Alison has developed a mixed portfolio of work, including partnerships with local public service employers to design and deliver award-bearing leadership and management programmes. She has also worked on areas as diverse as a cross-faculty public services management centre, programme validation and review to the development of professional qualifications and qualification frameworks.

Elaine Swift
Technology Learning and Development Manager
Responsibilities: Elaine leads the Digital Practice team which provides support through a range of professional development activities that enable the use of technologies in appropriate work contexts at NTU.
Elaine’s interest lie several areas including strategic support for eLearning, E-assessment and Digital Literacy.
Elaine is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is a member of the UCISA Academic Support Group
Previous Experience: Elaine has undertaken a variety of roles supporting the adoption of learning technologies in higher education. She was a member of the VLE project team focussing on setting up NOW and worked with Schools and Professional Services to provide training to staff on how to use NOW.
Prior to joining NTU, she worked within the e-learning team at the University of Bath researching and developing new learning technologies and supporting their adoption.

Trevor Welsh
Technology Learning and Development Adviser
Responsibilities: Trevor has ten years' experience in the education sector of supporting and teaching staff in the use of technologies for learning, teaching, management and organisation. These technologies include the NTU Online Workspace (NOW), Microsoft Office, Banner and other software technologies in use at NTU.
Previous experience: Trevor has worked in a variety of roles in Further Education, these include IT & Network Technician, Learning Resource Centre Co-ordinator, VLE Development Officer and ILT (Information Learning Technologies)/eLearning Senior Support Officer. Trevor joined the CPLD team in April 2012.

Jane Whyte
Vocational Qualifications Coordinator
Responsibilities: Jane assesses and quality assures vocational qualifications in a variety of areas including:

Jane manages the vocational provision at NTU. As well as being Centre Manager, Jane is is also responsible for training and delivery on the Level 3 First Line Management programme and is a customer service specialist. Jane consults with external organisations relating to vocational provision and regularly speaks at external conferences and events.
Previous experience: After graduating, Jane worked in the hotel and catering industry for a number of well-known groups including Thistle and Moat House Hotels. She has spent time managing front line staff and developing the customer experience.
