What continuing professional development (CPD) do you need?
Following national consultation with researchers, research funding bodies and employers, Vitae have created the Researcher Development Framework (RDF) to articulate the knowledge, skills and attributes of highly effective researchers.
This simplified outline of the RDF
provides a useful starting point in helping you and your line manager or supervisor to explore and plan your development needs across the full range of research activity. Please remember that no researcher will be an expert in every area, what is important is that you have the attributes to perform within your area of research and recognise which aspects of your research practice need further development.
We have created a Researcher CPD Tool
which brings together NTU’s priority areas for research with key development opportunities. Once you have agreed your development needs you can use the Tool to identify appropriate activities. The Tool is updated twice per year and provides indicative development activities but please check each provider for further up-to-date opportunities.
