Effective Researcher
This is a two-day workshop designed (and owned) by Vitae and is aimed at postgraduate research students in the early stages of their studies (3 - 12 months). It provides experiential learning activities across a range of transferable skills that will support their professional development throughout their studies and beyond into research-based careers.

Train the Trainer: Effective Researcher for PGRs
This workshop is for staff who would like to facilitate the Vitae Effective Researcher for Postgraduate Research Students. This Train the Trainer event will present the rationale behind Effective Researcher and will provide the knowledge, skills and approaches necessary for staff to be able to deliver the programme internally.

Getting Started as a Researcher: Using Online Resources
This workshop is aimed at all postgraduate research students and members of staff engaged in research-related activities at any level.

Graduate School QAA Briefing
This briefing will cover the updates to the research degrees elements of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) UK Quality Code for Higher Education. It will also introduce the national context of researcher career development.

Independent Chairs and Internal Examiners (ICIE)
This half-day interactive workshop aims to provide essential guidance on the processes and responsibilities of the Independent Chair and Internal Examiner roles within research degree viva examinations (MPhil, PhD and Professional Doctorates).

Planning for Publication
This is a half-day workshop aimed at staff members with limited publication experience who would like to explore planning tools to improve their publication record in discipline-based or pedagogic research particularly.

Planning your Development as a Researcher
This workshop is aimed at all postgraduate research students and members of staff engaged in research-related activities at any level.

It introduces the range of research-related activity that comprises the Vitae Researcher Development Framework (RDF) from which participants will identify their current phase of development and will create a personal development plan.

Research Student Supervisors
This interactive workshop is aimed mainly at new supervisors, who are now required to take a suitable training course within twelve months of starting to supervise their first research degree student. It may also be useful to more experienced colleagues who would like to know more about arrangements for research degrees at NTU.
