Researching
Are you involved in research as a member of staff or postgraduate research student? Do you manage staff who research or who would like to get started in research activity?
Whether you are researching in your subject area, in teaching and learning or in a cross-disciplinary context, the NTU Strategic Plan emphasises the importance of the development and impact of research for our university. To help realise these aims there are a range of continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to support:
- academic staff
- research staff (such as research assistants and postdoctoral fellows)
- postgraduate research students (MPhil, PhD, and Professional Doctorates) and their supervisors
- managers of researchers (such a Principal Investigators and Academic Team Leaders)
- professional services colleagues supporting research development
- professional services colleagues who undertake research
Opportunities include professional and academic qualifications, short courses, resources and other activities to support research development. These are managed and delivered by a number of academic and professional services colleagues including those based in the Centre for Academic Development and Quality (CADQ), NTU Library and CPLD which complement more discipline-focused provision which is delivered within your School and College.
What continuing professional development (CPD) do you need?
Following national consultation with researchers, research funding bodies and employers, Vitae have created the Researcher Development Framework (RDF) to articulate the knowledge, skills and attributes of highly effective researchers.
We have created a Researcher CPD Tool which brings together NTU’s priority areas for research with key development opportunities.
Both the Researcher Development Framework (RDF) and Researcher CPD Tool can be found on the Research tab in the CPD Planning section of our website.
