Returners Incentives

Returning Student: For the purposes of booking 2013 / 14 residential accommodation at NTU, a returning student is a student who, at the time of making their online booking for accommodation, was fully enrolled at NTU on a full-time Undergraduate or Postgraduate course for the 2012 / 13 academic year.

Gill Street and New Hall

10% cash back discount on any room either 44 or 51 weeks.

  • Returning Students who book a room in either of these halls between 1 January and 31 July 2013 will be eligible for the cash-back discount.
  • The cash-back discount will be paid by NTU directly to the Student regardless of who has paid the Student’s residence fees.
The cash-back discount will be paid by cheque within ten working days of each of the payment instalment dates for 2013 / 14 accommodation fees (7 October 2013, 9 January 2014, 10 April 2014) provided that, in each case, the full instalment has been paid on or by the due date. The amount of cash-back discount paid to the Student will be 10% of the value of the instalment in question.
Where the Student’s residence fees have been paid in full in a single payment on or before 7 October 2013, the full cash-back discount (i.e. 10% of the total residence fees) will be paid to the Student in one sum by cheque ten days after the first (October 2013) instalment date.
  • Any student who does not pay the full amount of an instalment payment when it falls due will not be eligible for the proportion of cash-back discount applicable to that instalment.
  • The cash-back discount will only be given to the Student who makes the initial booking of the accommodation, and is non-transferable. In the event that the Student finds another student to replace them in accommodation and take on their obligations under the Accommodation Licence, the original Student’s entitlement to any further element of the cash-back discount shall cease at the date from which the replacement takes effect.
  • In the event that a Student’s Accommodation Licence Agreement is terminated early either by the Student, UPP or the University (in accordance with section 7 of the Licence Agreement) the Student’s entitlement to any element of cash-back discount not already received shall cease at the date of termination.

Any UPP residence (excluding Gill Street and New Hall)

£250 cash-back discount on any room booked on a 44 week contract.

  • Returning Students who book a room in any of these residences between 1 January and 31 July 2013 will be eligible for the cash-back discount.
  • The cash-back discount will be paid by NTU directly to the Student regardless of who has paid the Student’s residence fees.
The cash-back discount will be paid by cheque within ten days of the first payment instalment date for 2013 / 14 accommodation fees (7 October 2013) provided that the instalment has been paid on or by the due date. The amount of cash-back discount paid to the Student will be 10% of the value of their total residence fees for the contract period.
Where the Student’s residence fees have been paid in full in a single payment on or before 7 October 2013, the full cash-back discount will be paid in one sum by cheque ten days after the first instalment date.
  • The cash-back discount will only be given to the Student who makes the initial booking of the accommodation, and is non-transferable. In the event that the Student finds another student to replace them in accommodation and take on their obligations under the Accommodation Licence, and such transfer takes effect before the first instalment payment date, neither the replaced Student nor their replacement shall be eligible to receive the cash-back discount.
  • In the event that a Student’s Accommodation Licence Agreement is terminated early either by the Student, UPP or the University (in accordance with section 7 of the Accommodation Licence Agreement) the Student’s entitlement to any element of cash-back discount not already received shall cease at the date of termination.

As an alternative to the cash-back discount and free parking offers above, Brackenhurst Returning Students who book UPP accommodation for 2013 / 14 will be eligible for a free NCT Easy Rider Extra Pass which will cover them for both city travel and the 100 bus to Brackenhurst (value £523). £200 Booking Fee/Deposit

If you are currently a UPP / NTU resident we can transfer the booking fee / deposit to the 2013 / 14 room booking. To do this you will need to contact Student Accommodation Services by email, phone or in person to choose and reserve your room. Please note that any damage you cause to your room, flat or residence during the 2012 / 13 licence period will be invoiced directly to you and the balance must be cleared before you collect your keys for the start of the 2013 / 14 licence period. You do have the option of paying the £200 booking fee / deposit for the 2013 / 14 licence period now, rather than transferring it from 2012 / 13. To take this option you can access the booking system as normal to choose your room. If you chose this option the deposit for the 2012 / 13 licence period will be refunded as per the process set out in the Resident Handbook.
