Incoming and outgoing students
Incoming students
If you are wishing to study at Nottingham Trent University as an exchange student then your university must first have either an Erasmus Bilateral Agreement or Partnership Agreement if outside the Erasmus programme. Please check our list of partners
to see if we cooperate with your university.
When you have been nominated by your home institution you will then need to complete our online application form. You will then receive further information on joining dates, accommodation information and details of our Welcome Week.
We are sure you will enjoy studying at Nottingham and you can find out more about what it’s like on our future students pages.
Outgoing students
If you are studying for a foundation, undergraduate or Masters degree or even if you are a PhD student, you may have the opportunity to study or work in another country for a minimum of three months and a maximum of 12 months.
There are a number of options for study abroad. If your course has a compulsory placement or year abroad, you can take part either as a funded Erasmus student or non-funded outside Europe. There is also the opportunity to study for one semester at one of our partners. Through this you could earn ECTS credits which would then be counted towards your degree.
Many of our partners teach in English so there are no language barriers to participation and you may take the opportunity of an Intensive Language Course at the University prior to commencing your studies.
Studying or working abroad offers you an invaluable international experience with many benefits such as:
- a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience another culture and enhance your life skills
- a unique opportunity to meet new people and build a new network of friends and practitioners in your chosen subject
- the opportunity to learn a new language
- an invaluable study experience which will enhance your CV so that you can stand out over your peers.
Many graduates from NTU have enjoyed their study abroad so much that they have chosen to work outside the UK. This is due to the Erasmus scheme and any study abroad experience being highly valued by employers. Some of our graduates have actually taken on Erasmus placement students themselves. Check out what students from other universities have said on the British Council webpage case studies.
If studying or working abroad interests you, check out our list of study partners
or contact your placement office if you are considering a placement opportunity. You can also visit the Erasmus office in Trent House, Tuesdays to Thursdays or you can email the Erasmus Office. You can also get useful information from your School Office and on the pages below.
