Student Volunteering Week (SVW)

Nottingham Trent Volunteering celebrate a whole week of volunteering as part of Student Volunteering Week (SVW) traditionally taking place each Spring. During the week we will be putting on events and activities that will reach all three NTU campuses. The week gives all students the perfect opportunity to give volunteering a try. Just one day will demonstrate the opportunities that volunteering provides you and may lead you to volunteer on a long term basis!

Student Volunteering Week 2013

Student Volunteering Week 2013 (SVW2013) ran from 11 - 16 February and Nottingham Trent Volunteering put on a whole host of activities and events to celebrate the week!

Over 250 student participated in events and activities such as:

  • Are you Man Enough? – The White Ribbon Campaign
    A chance to volunteer to take a stand against violence now and sign our personal pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about mens' violence against women.

  • Ethical International Volunteer Workshop
    Students had the chance to hear from Raleigh International, the Rosie May Home, Little Johns House and East Africa Playgrounds. An insight into volunteering around the world and a chance to discuss the ethical impact.

  • Tree Planting at Clifton
    A local primary school were invited to help plant trees on the Clifton campus. Volunteers assisted the children as well as planting a few trees themselves.

  • Chinese New Year at a local Primary School
    2013 was the year of the snake and volunteers taught primary school children about Chinese history and the New Year.
