PTES
The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) is a study made available to all universities across the UK with postgraduate taught students. 2009 is the first year it has run, with 30 universities taking part.
PTES is designed to "help institutions enhance the quality of postgraduate taught degree provision by collecting feedback from current research students in a systematic and user-friendly way".
We conducted the survey between April and June 2009, and expect to run the survey again at the same time in 2010.
Who can take part?
Students undertaking a full or part time postgraduate course at the time of the survey are eligible to take part. This is a fairly short survey so should take no longer than five to ten minutes to complete.
Summary findings 2009
NTU had a 20% response rate which was well above the sector average. ARES, Law and Arts and Humanities students were particularly satisfied with their courses.
In general NTU performs either on a par with or above the other universities surveyed on all factors measured. NTU scores above the sector in career and professional development. You also rated your experience of developing transferable skills higher than your peers at other universities.
There were many constructive comments given at the end of the survey which will be looked at in detail to try to develop our support and services for postgraduate taught students over the coming year.
84% of our postgraduate taught students would recommend NTU to other students.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey this year.
