Cycling for staff
Nottingham Trent University now has two great schemes to get you on your bike and cycling to work.
Cycle to Work Scheme
NTU staff can get a tax-free bike and accessories up to the value of £1,000 with the help of Cyclescheme. This is a great way to get hold of a really good bike and minimise the impact of the financial outlay by spreading the cost over 12 months through salary sacrifice.
Follow Cyclescheme's six steps to find your perfect bike. The steps cover how to find participating bike shops, place your order and get the University to purchase it on your behalf. Please make sure you carefully read and accept the scheme's Terms and Conditions before signing the Hire Agreement for your bike.
NTU strongly recommends that you take out insurance which will give you the cash value of your bike if it is stolen. Advice on good insurers is available on the Cyclescheme website. The bike hire period is one year (NTU is not currently able to offer the extended bike hire period).
Please note that Cyclesheme's online calculator does not include the transfer of ownership payment that is required if you wish to keep your bike at the end of the hire period. This final payment should be between 18 to 25 percent of the total cost of the bike.

Ucycle bike hire
All members of staff can hire a Ucycle bike with our special Spring offer of just £20 (plus a refundable deposit of £60). The bike comes with a free lock and lights and access to free maintenance checks and cycle training if you want to improve your confidence on the roads.
This is a great way to decide if cycling is right for you without having to commit to buying a bike.
To hire a bike simply visit the NTU online store, fill in your details and chose the size and style of bike to suit you. We will contact you to arrange collection of your bike. Please be aware that, due to staffing constraints, it may take a few days to process requests.
If you have any comments or questions about either cycling scheme please contact the Environment Team.
