Transport
NTU is fortunate to be located in a city that has an excellent public transport network. In addition to the city network, the University has spent the last few years significantly investing in facilities for cyclists and those who choose to walk or run to the University.
NTU's Transport Plan is linked to EcoCampus where a range of objectives and targets have been set to encourage the use of sustainable transport by staff, students and visitors.

Active travel
NTU encourages its staff, students and visitors to choose active travel options to the University as well as around and between each campus. Various measures have been introduced to help people get moving including shower and locker facilities and restricted access cycle parking. Such active travel choices help to improve employee and student health. Have a look at the calorie burn benefits of walking

Cycling to NTU
NTU offers staff and students great facilities to cycle to work including:
- over 600 cycle parking spaces across the estate
- a predominantly traffic free cycle route between City site and Clifton campus taking just 30 minutes
- a bike hire scheme for staff and students, and
- funding to buy a bike as part of the government's Cycle to Work initiative.
For further information on cycling please refer to the Ucycle pages or contact our Cycling Officer via email.
Walking and running to NTU
Plan your walk or run to and from NTU via walkit.com which gives you the most direct route, the calories you burn and the CO2 emissions saved from walking or running your journey rather than jumping in the car. To find the nearest shower facilities across NTU's campuses visit the Ucycle page. Each year NTU takes part in Walk to Work Week, why not take part next year?
Travelling by bus
Our very own award winning Unilink 4 Bus Service runs up to every seven minutes and is available for students, staff and members of the general public throughout term time Monday to Friday. This service takes you to and from NTU's City site into the heart of the Clifton campus in about 20 minutes (depending on traffic). The route is ideal as it goes through Nottingham city centre via Nottingham train station.
Car parking
While NTU do not actively encourage our staff, students or visitors to come to university by car we are aware that, for some, it is unavoidable. If you have to drive take a look at these green driving tips to help reduce your emissions and save some cash.
Transport news
Staff and students who travel to our Clifton campus on a regular basis will have noticed that work has begun on the £168 million road construction project that is the A453 widening. For more details about the A453 widening project please visit the Highways Agency website.
