Grant Anderson - Environmental Manager

Grant is in charge of all things environmental at NTU.  He is responsible for the environmental budget, allocating funds for environmental projects and managing the University's environmental impacts.  Grant works closely with NTU's estates managers to ensure that all building and development projects as sustainable as possible.

Did you know? Grant competes internationally in the GB Wild Water Canoeing team.

Sarah Thorp - Environmental Projects Officer

Sarah manages some of NTU's biggest environmental projects including the Big Clear Out, promoting biodiversity on campus, Back to Zero and looking after EcoCampus, NTU's Environmental Management System.  She works with partners both within and external to the University and aims to offer volunteer opportunities for staff and students wherever possible.

Did you know? Sarah is a keen netball player.

David Hobday - Sustainable Transport Officer

Dave looks after travel and transport at NTU, mainly focusing on the uCycle project.  He manages the staff and student bike hire and works with the Estates department to improve facilities for cyclists on all three campuses.  Dave and his uCycle bike mechanics run Dr Bike and maintenance training sessions open to all staff and students.  Dave also promotes other ways of getting to NTU including the Unilink bus service, trams and getting around on foot.

Did you know? Dave will be cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End for charity this summer.

Gillian Moczarski - Environmental Assistant

Gill's main focus is raising awareness and encouraging participation in the environmental agenda at NTU.  She manages the Green Impact project which aims to get staff to be greener.  She also organises NTU's annual Green Week and activities for Fairtrade Fortnight in collaboration with Nottingham Trent Students' Union.  Gill also looks after Ecoweb, keeping staff and students up to date with everything the team is working on.

Did you know? Gill is training to become a beekeeper.

Andrew White - Environmental Engagement Assistant (Student Placement)

Each year the Environment Team offers a paid placement to an NTU student. This year's EEA is Andrew who is studying BSc Geography (Physical), he supports the Environment Team in all of their work.  In particular, he focuses on new events for the Environment Team such as the pilot for the 'Big Switch Off' that included switching off PC's and appliances that have been left on overnight. He also focuses on the framework for measuring the Scope 3 emissions of the University's fleet of vehicles.

Did you know? Andrew has just been awarded his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Laura Scott- Environmental Engagement Officer

Laura previously worked with the Environment Team in 2010 as the student placement Environmental Engagement Assistant. Following graduation in 2012 she now works within the team assisting in the projects that take place throughout the year. Her main focus is to work with the Science department at NTU to reduce their impact on the environment. This department is one of the largest energy using departments in the University, her role involves carrying out audits and raising awareness amongst the users of the buildings about how they can help reduce emissions during their work and study.
