What is Green Impact?

Green Impact challenges departments to implement a number of easy practical actions to help the environment. The scheme is about empowering individuals and departments to reduce their environmental impact by encouraging, rewarding and celebrating practical environmental improvements.

Green Impact provides the opportunity for staff and students to be part of something on a large scale which helps the environment! They can receive recognition for the environmental actions they are already doing, encourage colleagues to think about the environment, save resources and money all while having fun.

How does it work?

Green Impact is open to keen members of staff at every university. They are given an online workbook with practical, easy to implement and no or low cost actions to complete. Individuals organise themselves, focusing on the actions which most interest them and finding their own ways of implementing the actions.

Green Impact Awards

Once the workbooks have been completed and submitted, volunteer staff and student auditors will visit all the departments to check that the workbooks accurately reflect the actions completed during the project. Depending on the number of environmental actions they carry out, they can achieve either: a working towards accreditation or Bronze, Silver or Gold award for making their workplaces greener.
