Here at Nottingham Trent University, our commitment to environmental sustainability is a key part of our strategy. Current and future threats to our environment are a major concern of our students and our staff. We seek to develop positive solutions for these environmental challenges through our curricula, our research, the way we work and how we manage our resources.

Bee swarm

Bees

Our Newton building has a new addition - a colony of honey bees. The hive, located on the green roof of the Newton building, was installed in June 2012 and is home to around 20,000 bees. Watch them live on camera.

Carbon Elephant

We have set ourselves a challenging target to reduce our carbon footprint by 48% by 2020.  To meet this target we are implementing various carbon reduction projects involving staff and students across the University.
