Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to the School of Education here at NTU. We are very proud of the wide range of learning opportunities we offer within Education; whether you are interested in undergraduate courses with an education focus, teacher training in primary, secondary or FE or CPD for professionals in education. Within the School we engage with a wide range of research communities in education and children's services to ensure that our all our staff have relevant expertise and that our teaching is informed by research.

The School of Education has a large group of partner organisations we work with and every one of our students undertakes a work placement or takes part in work related learning. This ensures all our students have a clear awareness of how their studies link to the real world and they have enhanced job opportunities. Many of our part-time students on professional programmes gain promotion at work while they are studying with us and our employment rates for both teacher training and education related programmes are very high. By developing your subject knowledge in a professional context and enabling you to explore employment opportunities, we create an environment where both employability and academic skills are developed.

We take learning very seriously within the School. We attempt to create an atmosphere in which students can learn and succeed through structured and independent learning, supported by excellent tutors as well as lectures, seminars, workshops and other activities within the course. The University also supports students in all aspects of their life, including offering excellent learning facilities in our teaching rooms, the library and resource centres and Student Support where it is needed. In return we expect commitment and hard work from all of our students. All of these aspects play a vital part in your success on our courses and in your career. Learning is for life and we want to help develop your skills, knowledge and experience in a way that supports, excites, interests and intrigues you. Learning can be fun too!

There is plenty of information about the School on this website, but if you want to find out more about the School of Education and our courses please visit on one of our open days. They are a great way of seeing more of what we do and deciding if NTU is the place for you.
