Our links with schools involve us in a wide range of projects in the UK and beyond. These projects could raise the aspirations of pupils, enrich the subject curriculum, build new skills, or open gateways to new cultures and ways of thinking.
Below is more information about some of the projects we are involved in.

NTU Partnership Scheme

Our Schools, Colleges and Community Outreach team organise and coordinate an extensive range of programmes with schools, colleges and community organisations. By working with a range of partners, they promote awareness of the opportunities that higher education can offer, to raise the aspirations of young people and their families.

STEM TeachMeet

In November, NTU played host to teachers and educational professionals from across Nottingham to share ideas on how to inspire their pupils in a STEM TeachMeet event. STEM TeachMeets are a chance for participants to network, share and discuss ideas and best practice that make a difference.

Take One Picture

The National Gallery Take One Picture ITE Cultural Placement Programme offers primary trainee teachers the opportunity to explore the potential of using National and Regional Collections for developing pupils’ thinking and learning across the curriculum both inside and outside of the classroom environment.

BBC School Report

The BBC News School Report project give 11-16 year old school pupils the opportunity to plan and produce their own news reports for a real audience. NTU have been involved with the project for a number of years and our trainees have always enjoyed the opportunity to work with their pupils on such an exciting event.

Leading Partners Phonics programme

Involving short placements in schools, our students working closely with children to support their performance and enthusiasm for reading using phonics.

Support group for young black males

A unique cultural group for Black males is to be set up at South Nottingham College, supported by the School of Education at Nottingham Trent University.

Using web technology in the classroom

A new project which focuses on developing the use of web technologies in the classroom, such as social networking, blogging and wikis, is to be run by Nottingham Trent University teacher trainees in partnership with five local secondary schools.
