Careers

We offer a variety of work placement opportunities throughout your undergraduate degree which will enrich your academic learning. They will also provide you with valuable experience to boost your CV and give you a competitive edge in the graduate employment market. Previous students have enjoyed placements at such diverse settings as hospitals, major sports clubs, commercial environments, charities, schools and local authorities. Studying at the School of Education will open door ways into a variety of careers such as social work, speech therapy, charity work, sports development, teaching, training, or human resource management.

Teacher training
We have positive, well-established partnerships with our placement schools, colleges and organisations helping you make the links that could lead to your first job. You will experience a wide variety of teaching placements enabling you to gain a wide experience of teaching in many different educational environments.

Further study
Our postgraduate, full-time taught courses include PGCEs for intending primary, secondary, post-16 and higher education (HE) teachers, as well as employment-based routes into teaching. We also offer a comprehensive programme of professional courses for education professionals, which are essential for career progression.

Careers service
As well as receiving support and guidance throughout your chosen course, the University also has a dedicated careers service.
