Undergraduate teacher training

The annual course fees from September 2013 are: 

  • Full-time UK / EU undergraduate degrees (including BA and BSc teacher training courses): £8,750*

The level of the tuition fee for the second, third and fourth years of the course may vary, within the limitations imposed by the UK Government policy.

If you study a teacher training course, you are entitled to the same funding as other undergraduate courses:

  • Maintenance grant
  • Maintenance loan
  • Grants for students with dependents or disabilities
  • NTU scholarships

Postgraduate teacher training 

Financial support and tuition fees for students undertaking teacher training courses varies from course to course and is dependent on certain eligibility criteria, such as the class of undergraduate degree you apply with.

Student loan for maintenance
Home students in England may also be eligible for a student maintenance loan to help towards accommodation and other living costs. This is available through Student Finance England. More information on the student loan for maintenance can be found on Gov.uk.

Maintenance grant
Home students in England may also be eligible for a non repayable maintenance grant. This grant will be means tested and you can apply through Student Finance England. More details about these grants and the funding arrangements for trainees from the EU can be found at Gov.uk.

Scholarships
Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science trainees with a first or 2:1 class degree can apply for scholarships worth £20,000. If you are awarded one of these scholarships you will not also receive the bursary, but can benefit from memberships, mentors and a host of other advantages.
