Year of the Snake
Details:
Network for Languages East Midlands is very pleased to host a dedicated Hanban teacher over 2012 / 13. Part of the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Hanban programme promotes Chinese language and culture worldwide. Our Hanban teacher is able to offer tasters and language courses in Chinese language and culture for both pupils and teachers as well as support for cultural activities and events. To celebrate the Year of the Snake, Network for Languages is offering a FREE taster CPD event exploring Chinese language and culture.
During the session, delegates will learn some basic Chinese language and phrases (greetings, introductions, numbers and family members) and will explore a range of cultural activities and customs. Delegates will be given advice on a wide range of resources to support learning about Chinese culture and forging links with China, and will also receive a British Council resource pack of materials.
The session will be delivered by Yanhua Li, a Chinese language teacher and Associate Professor from Beijing Language and Culture University. Part of the session will examine support available for forging links with China and will be delivered by EMILE at Nottingham City Council.
This event is suitable for primary teachers interested in exploring Chinese language and culture either as part of the languages curriculum, as an enrichment activity or as part of activities around the global dimension.
