eLearning in Mathematical Subjects (ELMS) Working Group
Background
Mathematics is present in diverse subject areas such as science, engineering and statistics, to social sciences, humanities and business studies. Therefore, issues related to the use of technology in teaching and learning the mathematical components of these subjects are common across diverse disciplines. However, practitioners encountering similar issues do not necessarily come into contact. That's why eLearning in Mathematical Subjects (ELMS) was set-up.
ELMS brings together practitioners and those interested in technology-based learning from across the University by delivering research seminars and providing a forum for shared issues to be investigated and discussed. The seminars are recorded on video and made available via the ELMS website.
eLearning in Mathematical Subjects is organised by Peter Rowlett and Dr David Fairhurst of the School of Science and Technology, and Pete Bradshaw of the School of Education. ELMS is supported by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications and the Higher Education Academy Maths, Stats and OR Network to allow talks to be placed online for wider dissemination.
