ePortfolio Working Group
Background
Portfolios are a collection of documents which can be used to demonstrate or provide evidence for learning outcomes. An ePortfolio transforms this into a digital artefact whereby users can create, store, organise, share, reflect and present purposeful collections of information and pieces of work. These collections can be used to demonstrate development or evidence learning outcomes, skills or competencies. They can also be used for assessment purposes or for presentations to potential employers.
The ePortfolio Working Group is organised by Jon Tepper of the School of Science and Technology. It aims to identify existing educational uses of portfolio activities and their relation to the functionality of existing tools and the D2L ePortfolio tool. The group will also:
- Identify new or existing policy and/or guideline documents that need to be written or updated.
- Produce appropriate guideline documentation to encourage good practice.
At NTU our ePortfolio tool is fully integrated with the NTU Online Workspace (NOW) environment and can be used by students and staff for personal and course related collections. The go-live date for this facility is yet to be confirmed. However, a number of pilots will be using the system from October 2008.
